Rūdolfs Jurciņš 1934[edit]Hello! Why You deleted drawing "Rūdolfs Jurciņš 1934.jpg"? This was nothing to do with any offence or insulting memmories about him or Latvians as a nation. Rūdolfs Jurciņš was a European Celebrity and any addings (even such as friendly carricature from Lithuanian magazine) about him would show how well known and popular he was and would increase his popularity now. The more pics about him - the better. Merry Christmas! Svetys — Preceding unsigned comment added by Svetys (talk • contribs) 10:02, 25 December 2014 (UTC) Thank you! Thank you! United Synagogues[edit]Dear Edgars, please escalate the protected page status of the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:United_Synagogue that you have been recently involved in. there is a block in place, for no reason, other than one user does not like having FULLY sourced and referenced material added to the page in question. Error-checking help[edit]Thanks, but I don't understand how a template would help here. I've finished the project (all articles now have their maps, unless I've made mistakes), so the error-checking is all that remains. Can you run your bot for that mission ? If you need a bot flag in Arabic Wikipedia just ask here [1]. --Helmoony (talk) 17:50, 5 September 2015 (UTC)
@Helmoony: I did some connection job. I think I connected somewhere 2000 items. I am counting only those templates, which are basepage, I'm not counting subpages. As I found out, there was quite little number of templates, that do contain only English name, the most of them are at least partially in Arabic. I will work on those templates, which have been moved at enwiki, but you can take a look at those in Arabic. So here are the lists:
If you're interested, can go trough those templates, which are subpages, just say, under what name is documentation subpages. --Edgars2007 (talk/contribs) 19:45, 6 September 2015 (UTC)
Red Link Recovery / Latvian language question[edit]Howdy. I see that the suggestion set targeting longer popular red links didn't work out well, largely due to the tools poor understanding of country names and nominatives in Latvian. To help me tune the tool to improve future runs, is Maldivijas considered an acceptable (if lazy) variation of Maldīvijas, or should the tool always prefer variants with macrons ? Merger discussion for Amy Swensen[edit]Missing interwikis[edit]Hi Edgars! I noticed your page User:Edgars2007/Women from German linked into some athletes that I'm working on. How did you get the data for these missing articles and the number of articles in other languages? I ask because I've been recently thinking about how to get similar results for articles on athletics. Thanks, SFB 22:51, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
@Sillyfolkboy: the lists are updated, dewiki list may be incomplete, there were some problems. These should be better than previous ones, because I and other guys have done some clean-up at Wikidata by merging duplicates. --Edgars2007 (talk/contribs) 17:30, 4 February 2016 (UTC)

Done ! --NicoV (Talk on frwiki) 18:04, 29 October 2015 (UTC) Transclusion counting[edit]WRT the Village Pump discussion, here's the kind of thing I'm thinking about: any upmerged stubs with over 60 transclusions are eligible for being given their own category, and we have a huge backlog of overly large stub cats. Take Category:Kansas geography stubs for instance -- any of those which file into this directory (except {{Kansas-geo-stub}}, which is the intended stub tag for that category) with 60+ could be spun out, cutting the cat size down quickly. But checking which are eligible takes a while, because in many cases there are like 70 of them. (As it happens I've checked all these ones manually, but it took a while and was pretty tedious...!) As to how often it would need to be done... hard to say. Many don't have upmerged templates as yet, so it wouldn't be useful there, and you'd only need to check once a year at most I expect, but there are a whole bunch of oversized ones, many of which do have upmerged tags filing into them already. But if it's not gonna be often enough, or requires too much server strain, then don't sweat it. Would be nice to cut out 10 minutes worth of manually checking, but it's hardly essential :) Cheers! Help[edit]Can you help with this? --Obsuser (talk) 20:09, 12 December 2015 (UTC)
I've had a go at this lady from your User:Edgars2007/Women_in_religion list: a bit messy as she already had half an article at Adela and Irmina, shared with her sister - who had a separate article at Irmina of Oeren, not linked from the one about the pair! I ended up MOVEing the dual article to Adela of Pfalzel, editing it to remove stuff about Irmina (which was already in her article), and creating a little navigational page (which someone is going to want to delete as it's not a proper dab page) at the joint title. The Wikidata is a mess because there's a "two-person" record, but I've left a message on a Wikidata project talk page asking for someone to please try and fix it. I wonder whether the next on the list is a similar case? I might dare to have a look at her. PamD 22:21, 13 December 2015 (UTC)

I was doing a bit of searching for someone active that could speak Latvian. I posted at the Latvia WP, but I'm not sure if it would be seen given that the talk page seemed to be fairly inactive. In any case, here's the situation. I recently restored a userspace draft, which I moved to Draft:Mazsalacas Secondary School. The article has some issues with tone and grammar, giving off the strong impression that the editor speaks English as a second language. They have a fairly good grasp, but there are very likely going to be policies and other things that could maybe pose an issue, if the language barrier is too large. The user in question is Nona118 and while there's nothing to guarantee that they're a native Latvian speaker, I think that it's likely given that they're writing about a Latvian secondary school and if this is the case, I think that it's also likely that they're affiliated with the school. Explaining policies about promotional content and COI tend to be one of the most difficult things to explain when/if there's a language barrier, hence why I'm here. Can you help out any? Your contributed article, Sergio Fernández (athlete)[edit]
Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Sergio Fernández (athlete). First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Sérgio Fernández. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Sérgio Fernández – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page. If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. SFB 14:22, 9 July 2016 (UTC) Disambiguation link notification for July 10[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Hi. I see you are listed as a member of a WikiProject of a Baltic state. I was wondering if anybody who actively works on Estonian, Lithuanian or Latvian articles, would be interested in launching your own Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Baltic), based on the Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic) and Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea would be to try to bring about 1000 article improvements and creations on this region as an enjoyable challenge and potentially things like National Contests with prizes. If you'd be interested and think it's something you might regularly contribute to, comment and sign up at Talk:Baltic states. If there is interest we can move this to a project somewhere and set something up, thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 19:26, 26 September 2016 (UTC) Edgarbot / Women in Red[edit]Hi Edgars2007; I trust all is well with you. I would be grateful if you could explain to me how EdgarBot undertakes the addition of links from Wikidata to a Wikipedia article for Women in Red. I'm interested in a high-level algorithm. I ask out of interest, mainly, and because I know that counting new women articles is non-trivial given shortcomings in categoristion & talk-page tagging. Of course, please explain only if you have the time and are willing; I don't want to cause you great effort; you're probably busy. I understand that you're polling category:Women by occupation. And doing what? Spotting new additions? How many levels of category do you look at? And then I guess, you're asking wikidata whether it has links for any of the articles you found. And if wikidata has no link, then you're doing what? Checking to see if there is an appropriate wikidata item against which to add a link? And is there is not, creating a new human/female item against which you post the link. Finally, how does the addition of new categories into the category:Women by occupation tree affect the bot: does it poll the new category in its entirety? Finally, how often does the EdgarBot WiR task run? thanks --Tagishsimon (talk) 16:16, 17 October 2016 (UTC)
Europe 10,000 Challenge invite[edit]Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 05:55, 6 November 2016 (UTC) ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open![edit]Hello, Edgars2007. Copying within Wikipedia[edit]Hi Edgar. The edit I'm here about was quite some time back, so you may know about this already, but please be aware that when you copy content from one Wikipedia to another—generic copying, splits, merges, etc.—you must provide copyright attribution in the edit summary by stating what you are doing, and linking to the source of the content where the page history is available so that the heart of our dual free copyright licenses – credit to the authors – is met. The specific instance of this is from this edit to Sapana Sapana, where you merged content from Sapna Punia without copyright attribution, and then redirected the latter to the former. For further information on the issue, please see generally Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia – and since this was a merge, you might also look at WP:MERGETEXT, where instructions on mandatory copyright attribution are also provided. There's nothing you need to do here, as I have repaired the issue (see WP:RIA) in this repair edit summary. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 22:14, 6 May 2017 (UTC)
Alterations to the WE-Framework gadget[edit]Hi Edgars. Since you introduced me to the WE-Framework gadget over a year ago, I have made wide use of it, particularly in connection with biographies. Unfortunately, I see that alterations have been made to the gadget in the past day or two with the result that it no longer displays fields which are empty. This means that the only way of updating Wikidata entries is to go to Wikidata itself which many of us find too difficult or too time-consuming. Is there anything you can do to have the old version restored?--Ipigott (talk) 10:04, 12 August 2017 (UTC)

Latvian Freedom Monument related Deletion Request question.
[edit]I see you are listed at the WP:Local Embassy page and I have a Latvian Freedom Monument related Deletion Request question.
Freedom Monument A quote from the article states, "After minor corrections made by the author and supervising architect Ernests Štālbergs, construction began on 18 November 1931." This monument's creator is Kārlis Zāle: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q2451446. The architect Štālbergs made only "minor corrections." Do Latvians consider Štālbergs as having copyright to this monument? There is a Deletion request based on Štālbergs death in 1958 that assumes that he owns the copyright and also Kārlis Zāle. Thanks, -- Ooligan (talk) 20:14, 10 April 2025 (UTC)
