Congratulations, Icepinner! The list you nominated, List of Singapore LRT stations, has been promoted to featured status, recognizing it as one of the best lists on Wikipedia. The nomination discussion has been archived.
This is a rare accomplishment and you should be proud. If you would like, you may nominate it to appear on the Main page as Today's featured list. Keep up the great work! Cheers, Giants2008 (talk) via FACBot (talk) 01:16, 15 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 03:13, 28 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Arbitration

  • After a motion, arbitration enforcement page protections no longer need to be logged in the AELOG. A bot now automatically posts protections at WP:AELOG/P. To facilitate this bot, protection summaries must include a link to the relevant CT page (e.g. [[WP:CT/BLP]]), and you will receive talk page reminders if you forget to specify the contentious topic but otherwise indicate it is an AE action.

DYK for GV Yishun

[edit]

On 13 October 2025, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article GV Yishun, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/GV Yishun. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, GV Yishun), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Thank you for this interesting article and fact, and welcome to WP:QAI. Sorry, I noticed only now that you joined. Post articles for review on the talk and review ;) - Today's TFA is by Wehwalt, one of the project founders. Thank you for improving article quality! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:58, 14 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Aw, thanks Gerda! Really honoured to have the Gerda Arendt welcome me to QAI. Icepinner 07:03, 14 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Singapore

Thank you for quality articles around Singapore such as List of Singapore LRT stations, articles of MRT stations, Details Cannot Body Wants and Istana Park, for helping to retain GA quality and for reviewing, for: I got lots of articles to destub :) - you are an awesome Wikipedian!

You are recipient no. 3000 of Precious, a prize of QAI. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:42, 15 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Oh my! Thanks for bestowing the Precious award on me (and I'm even recipient number 3000!) Like I've said above, WP:SG has a lot of articles needing expansion, so my work isn't done yet, but I'm still grateful for this award. By the way, when you were in Singapore, did you manage to visit The Esplanade? Really amazing building. Icepinner 13:50, 15 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The lead should have an indication of the opening year ;) - It was after I visited Singapore. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:42, 15 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

It's been over a week since there last was a comment there; should it be closed as no consensus? If you'd like to, you can reopen the proposal at WT:SG Whyiseverythingalreadyused (talk) 09:04, 28 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Whyiseverythingalreadyused: Possibly. I think this may fall under an "uncontroversial merge", though I must admit that I talked about this with a few editors off-Wiki, and those editors participated in the merger discussion (their thoughts are completely independent of me, I must stress). I may relist it on WT:SG, but if there's no input from other editors, then I will close the discussion as no consensus. Icepinner 10:38, 28 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, that was exactly how it was supposed to be interpreted. You are aces in my book. BTW, did you know Americans experimented with this kind of architecture in the 1970s and 1980s, but it never took off? I've always loved it and it's great to see that Singapore took it to the next level. Viriditas (talk) 23:15, 23 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ooohh, that's interesting! Icepinner (Come to Hakurei Shrine!) 13:40, 24 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, there was a condo development in my town that experimented with it. Apparently, the upkeep was high and that likely deterred them but it was super cool. Very much like your photo, they built units around a central atrium filled with a forest and waterfall. This was also a thing in 1970s Americana. In California at the time, it was very popular to plant trees within the interior of a house itself, often with an atrium like a sun room. This practice disappeared by the 1980s and most people today have probably never heard of it. I even know of people who created massive Japanese gardens that went in and around their home. One person went so far as to create an entire koi pond, complete with bridges, that surrounded their home on both sides. As you can imagine, the kind of upkeep on that is unimaginable, so after a few years, they drained it and covered it up. Viriditas (talk) 22:21, 24 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Crazy stuff. If only the ideas of 70s and 80s architects were accepted.... Icepinner (Come to Hakurei Shrine!) 08:25, 25 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to the 2026 WikiCup!

[edit]

Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2026 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor, we hope the WikiCup will give you a chance to improve your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here, and a bot will set up your submissions page within one day, ready for you to take part. Any questions on the scoring, rules or anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page.

For the 2026 WikiCup, the highest-ranking contestants will receive tournament points at the end of each round, and final rankings are decided by the number of tournament points each contestant has. This is the same scoring system that we had last year. If you're busy and can't sign up in January, don't worry: Signups are open throughout the year. To make things fairer for latecomers, the lowest-scoring contestants are no longer eliminated at the end of each round.

The first round will end on 26 February. The judges for the WikiCup this year are: Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs · email), Epicgenius (talk · contribs · email), Frostly (talk · contribs · email), Guerillero (talk · contribs · email) and Lee Vilenski (talk · contribs · email). Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Hi Icepinner, thanks for participating in the WikiCup. You recently submitted Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Vatican City at the 2022 Mediterranean Games/archive1 for FACR points in the WikiCup. Unfortunately, it does not look like the image review is long enough per Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring#Featured article candidate reviews & Featured list candidate reviews. In the future, I'd encourage you to add more feedback, or if that's not possible, add a paragraph explaining how the article otherwise meets the criteria (although I acknowledge that either of these may sadly not be possible for image reviews). Thanks for letting me know, Epicgenius. Icepinner (Come to Hakurei Shrine!) 03:40, 5 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
