Peer review
[edit]Please read the instructions when requesting a peer review. M3tal H3ad (talk) 04:50, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Hi!
[edit]Hi Rankun. I would not list Seton Hall at GAC until you have sorted the issues that lead to its earlier failures at GA and FA. Regarding mentoring, I don't think I would be a good choice for that, for a number of reasons. I would suggest having a look at Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User and see if someone there can help you. Good luck! -- Mattinbgn\talk 02:37, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
mentor
[edit]A wikimentor, as you put it, should give you advice in general. What I think you want is to get Seton Hall some sort of editorial recognition.
I am willing to help. In fact, I'll help write it and also give suggestions. Ok? I know nothing about the university so there will be times that I'll need to rely on you. Congolese fufu (talk) 04:05, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
I try not to boss people around. However, see if you can find 2 FA about American universities that you like? (See WP:FA, Duke, Cornell, Michigan are among the FA's) This is just for a possible guide. Congolese fufu (talk) 04:19, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
No, you misunderstood me. Harvard or Princeton? The suggestion is to find one that you think is good. We'll use that as a model and better them. I know that Cornell, Michigan, and Duke are FA's. Congolese fufu (talk) 04:22, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
I started to re-do the Whitehead School of Diplomacy. I'll work on that for a few days. Make no mistake, this is a big project. It will take a while. My plan is to review each section and help write. My first idea is to describe the school first. Then mention why it is special. Then I'll move to the next section. The famous faculty list near the bottom might have to go depending on what other universities have. I know lists are usually frowned upon. Good luck. I have to go. Congolese fufu (talk) 04:43, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Where to start, you ask? How about the history section. Look up as many non-Seton references as possible as long as they look and sound reliable. No blogs. News articles are respected. Slowly re-write it. Just a suggestion. I'll work from the bottom, you can work from the top. Congolese fufu (talk) 04:45, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

(WikiProject?) Seton Hall University
[edit]I ran that tool for you. Let me know if it worked, I've never used it before so I'm not positive I did precisely what you needed. Dylan (talk) 18:49, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
- Once an hour? The script creates the categories for the WikiProject; once it's done, it doesn't need redoing, unless those categories get deleted somehow. Perhaps you're referring to this bot, which updates the chart of quality vs. importance. I'm pretty sure anyone (admin or not) can run that. Dylan (talk) 19:28, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
- Honestly, I really don't know what I'm doing here -- I know as little about this as you do! I'd advise you to seek the support of a knowledgeable admin -- try Wikipedia talk:Version 1.0 Editorial Team. Dylan (talk) 20:40, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Another editor has added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Seton Hall University Alma Mater, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. WikiProject SHU
[edit]Hey there Rankun! I am glad to see you taking such an interest in improving the SHU article and I assume you are enjoying your first year at SHU as well (I enjoyed attending SHU as well). I commend you for your work! I realize that you are putting a lot of time and efforts into your edits. But, I really hope you don't mind if I make a few suggestions regarding your edits. First of all, before we move outwards and create satellite pages on this topic, we should try to focus on the mainpage. That is, we really don't need to create separate articles for buildings, faculty, the alma mater, etc. In addition, such articles are discouraged by other users and by Wiki standards, see WP:Notability
I think it is also important to try to do complete jobs before we save our changes, rather than simply copy editing. For example, the College of Arts and Science page is currently using the School of Diplomacy style and it is also incomplete. It would be fairly simple to research the various links and numbers that are missing. So, rather than just putting "????", try to research it beforehand. I'm just saying this because it also looks bad for the University (mainpage) and us to have such unfinished work. As a general rule of thumb, I myself, like to get very familiar with the format of other GA and FA articles (especially other educational institutions), before I begin doing something.
Finally, I'm sure you know that before we submit the article for GAC or FAC, we need to finish our work completely so that it is presentable. Most of our work can come from doing our own research. As I think you mentioned briefly before about asking help from the faculty in editing, I am not sure how much of a help that would be to involve such people. I think we have it under control ourselves. Of course, other editors are welcome to contribute voluntarily. Please also remember to sign every one of your posts with four tidles, that way others know who they are exchanging with.
I really do look forward to working with you on this and other articles and feel free to leave me a message on my talk page anytime for help or otherwise. Best, aNubiSIII (T / C) 03:24, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
I will help the SHU article. I added my name to the wikiproject list. However, world domination is not my intent! Congolese fufu (talk) 09:07, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
AfD nomination of Seton Hall University Alma Mater
[edit]
An editor has nominated Seton Hall University Alma Mater, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Seton Hall University Alma Mater and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 08:44, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
SHU GA/FA Noms
[edit]Hey man, take it easy on the GA and FA noms for SHU, the rapid pace seems to be taking a toll on the reviewers. We should probably take about two weeks or so and continue as much as we can on this past weeks pace and then we should be soidly within GA bounds. Mystache (talk) 21:54, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit]I doubt the bounty will help. How about a $25 bounty to be divided by up to 5 editors who help, based on the top 5 number of edits (with a provision that too many disruptive or meaningless edits is a disqualification and that you are the sole judge). Speedy deletion of Karen Boroff
[edit]
A tag has been placed on Karen Boroff, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read our the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ukexpat (talk) 00:49, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
I nominated for speedy deletion because before you added the opening paragraph it read like a curriculum vitae - with the opening paragraph it is obviously much better. You might want to consider creating articles in a user sandbox (see WP:Sandbox) in future avoid potential speedy deletions. --ukexpat (talk) 01:00, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
goodbye
[edit]Because of overzealous attacks against me by Jehochman, I will no longer be editing the three articles that I was working towards FA status nor Congo articles. Jehochman went on a rampage RFCU. His RFCU claims were disproven and according to another user, he lied about the category.
WP:SOCK#LEGIT allows multiple accounts for segregation and security. The multiple accounts edited separate articles.
A multiple account was necessary because of the controversial nature of User:Profg. Editing about him would bring stalkers to the 3 FA contenders. Edits about User:Profg were never meant to defend him but to point out things that the community was overlooking. The community shouldn’t overlook everything that a user says simply because he is bad. One member of the community said he was seeking a ban just to make it easier to accuse others. These is a diabolical scheme.
What good does is exposing User:HappyBirthdayClubMember? That’s like exposing the identity of Santa Claus. Congolese fufu (talk) 02:47, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Cody Willard.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Cody Willard.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. [edit]You must show it is a notable company. This has to be done by published articles in reliable sources--not PR--from third parties referring to it, and/or by information about market share. The bar for assets under management seems to be rather high; I've seen $500 Million rejected here as not particularly notable. (I have personally no opinion on that--just advising you about what seems to be the practice)DGG (talk) 09:15, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- The references need to be unconnected with the firm., None of the present ones are usable for notability. I see you are not happy with some of my comments. I suggest that edit summaries are not the best place to make them, and that you keep to the talk pages. I strongly support pages for businessmen and corporations, whenever there are adequate references and demonstrations of notability. If I think there might be, i will suggest what might help strengthen the article. If i don't think there is, though, I will nominate for deletion and let the community decide. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Cody Willard.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Cody Willard.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:59, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit]| You have expressed interest in undergoing the Admin coaching program. However, after reviewing your edit history, I feel you may need more experience editing (i.e., >2,500 edits & 4 months of activity) on Wikipedia before you can know for certain your ready to begin the process of becoming an administrator. Therefore, at this time, your application for Admin Coaching has been declined.
My suggestion would be to seek adoption from a more experienced user who can help you experience all of the various components of editing an encyclopedia. If you decide adoption is not for you, there is also the editor review process that may help you find areas to improve upon in our editing. If you would like to talk more about this, please feel free to leave me a my talk page. MBisanz talk 21:24, 27 February 2008 (UTC) |

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Yearbookphotoyouman.jpg)
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Yearbookphotoyouman.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. adoptation
[edit]Hi. you were seeking adoptation so here I am. I'm not rely active on Wikipedia right now, but I'm online most of the time, and know my way around here a bit. I'm an admin on the Icelandic wikipedia among others. I see you have been active for a few months. I was looking trough your contributions and thought I'd point a few things out. Welcoming new users is a great way to make friends, please bare in mind to put the welcome not to their talk page. Also, links to disambiguations should always be at the top of articles. See my fix here. There are just small issues and as far as I can see you are making good faith edits. Let me know if you want to be adopted by me :) --Steinninn 06:25, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

First off, I apologize for the spam. You are receiving this message because you have indicated that you are in Southern California or interested in Southern California topics (either via category or WikiProject).
I would like to invite you to the Los Angeles edition of Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art, a photography scavenger hunt to be held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) on Saturday, February 28, 2009, from 1:00 to 7:00 PM. All photos are intended for use in Wikipedia articles or on Wikimedia Commons. There will be a prize available for the person who gets the most photos on the list.
If you don't like art, why not come just to meet your fellow Wikipedians. Apparently, we haven't had a meetup in this area since June 2006!
If you are interested in attending, please add your name to Wikipedia:Wikipedia Loves Art#Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Please make a note if you are traveling to the area (train or plane) and need transportation, which can probably be arranged via carpool, but we need time to coordinate. Lodging is as of right now out of scope, but we could discuss that if enough people are interested.
Thank you and I hope to see you there! howcheng {chat} 00:20, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Ingrid Simunic
[edit]
A tag has been placed on Ingrid Simunic requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding Template:Tl to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. GA Sweeps invitation
[edit]Hello, I hope you are doing well. I am sending you this message since you are a member of the GA WikiProject. I would like to invite you to consider helping with the GA sweeps process. Sweeps helps to ensure that the oldest GAs still meet the criteria, and improve the quality of GAs overall. Unfortunately, last month only two articles were reviewed. This is definitely a low point after our peak at the beginning of the process when 163 articles were reviewed in September 2007. After nearly two years, the running total has just passed the 50% mark. In order to expediate the reviewing, several changes have been made to the process. A new worklist has been created, detailing which articles are left to review. All exempt and previously reviewed articles have already been removed from the list. Instead of reviewing by topic, you can consider picking and choosing whichever articles interest you.
We are always looking for new members to assist with the remaining articles, so if you are interested or know of anybody that can assist, please visit the GA sweeps page. In addition, for every member that reviews 100 articles or has a significant impact on the process, s/he will get an award when they reach that threshold. If only 14 editors achieve this feat starting now, we would be done with Sweeps! Of course, having more people reviewing less articles would be better for all involved, so please consider asking others to help out. Feel free to stop by and only review a few articles, something's better than nothing! Take a look at the list, and see what articles interest you. Let's work to complete Sweeps so that efforts can be fully focused on the backlog at GAN. If you have any questions about the process, reviewing, or need help with a particular article, please contact me or OhanaUnited and we'll be happy to help. --Happy editing! Proposed deletion of Ingrid Simunic
[edit]
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Ingrid Simunic, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- Mid-level cable-TV marketing executive. No accomplishments of note.
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the Template:Tl notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. April 2010 GAN backlog elimination drive
[edit]| WikiProject Good Articles will be running a GAN backlog elimination drive for the entire month of April. The goal of this drive is to bring the number of outstanding Good Article nominations down to below 200. This will help editors in restoring confidence to the GAN process as well as actively improving, polishing, and rewarding good content. If you are interested in participating in the drive, please place your name here. Awards will be given out to those who review certain numbers of GANs as well as to those who review the most. Hope we can see you in April. |

GAN backlog elimination drive - 1 week to go
[edit]| First off, on behalf of myself and my co-coordinator Wizardman, I would like to thank you for the efforts that you have made so far in this GAN backlog elimination drive. It has been nothing short of a success, and that is thanks to you. See this Signpost article about what this drive has achieved so far.
We're currently heading into the final week of the drive. At this time, if you have any GANs on review or on hold, you should be finishing off those reviews. Right now, we have more GANs on review or on hold than we do unreviewed. If you're going to start a GA review, please do so now so you can complete it by the end of the month and so that the nominator has a full 7-day window to address any concerns. See you at the finish! |

Thank you for your participation in the April 2010 GAN backlog elimination drive
[edit]|
On behalf of my co-coordinator Wizardman, I'd like to especially thank you for your efforts over this past month's GAN backlog elimination drive. It has been nothing short of a complete success, which hopefully results in more expedient good article reviews, increasing users' confidence in the good article nomination processes. Even if you made just a small contribution, it still helped contribute to the success of this drive. Here is what we have accomplished this last month in this drive.
For those who have accomplished certain objectives in the drive, awards will be coming shortly. Again, thank you for your help in the drive, and I hope you continue to help review GA nominations and overall improve the quality of articles here on Wikipedia. |

Template:Quote box A tag has been placed on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Herman Morris, Jr., requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding Template:Tlc to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
[edit]Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:12, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:Gina-smile.jpg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading File:Gina-smile.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to Template:NoSpamEmail, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add Template:Tl to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to Template:NoSpamEmail.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as Template:Tlp or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in [[[:fullurl:Special:Log]] your upload log]. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ronhjones (Talk) 21:53, 13 April 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of User:Jedi Striker
[edit]
Template:Quote box A tag has been placed on User:Jedi Striker, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the Template:Querylink. 損齋 (talk) 06:32, 21 August 2017 (UTC)

The file File:IngridSimunic2009.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Orphaned (except on itself) image, Ingrid Simunic was deleted
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the Template:Tlc notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing Template:Tlc will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

The file File:Jim Karol.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
