Adding Article Assistance

[edit]

Hi Rubland I'm hoping you can led me in the right direction. I am looking to add an article about the Southern Farm Show (annual event since 1978 in Raleigh) to Wikipedia, and am looking to hire a reputable person to help with this so it's done correctly. It would be like this similar show in California https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Ag_Expo. Any guidance or reference you can give would be appreciated. Also - sorry if this is not the right way to go about contacting you - obviously below an amateur here. Southern Farm Show (talk) 15:48, 28 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I am not for hire but am happy to help create articles on any notable events in North Carolina. Of course, that means that I would be taking a neutral and informative position, rather than creating an promotional article per Wikipedia's guidelines. I did create the International Whistlers Convention and improved the North Carolina State Fair article as well as articles about several world's fairs. I don't mind the structure of the article you mentioned, but it is generally considered a bad example as is mostly cites the event's own website. The quality of any Wikipedia article relates to the availabilty of secondary sources. My quick look suggests that newspaper converage, etc. of the Southern Farm Show is pretty good. Once I finish up a project this evening, I will dig a bit and see what I can come up with. Rublamb (talk) 21:15, 28 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the reply and your offer to take a look. That's very kind of you. Would you like me to send you links to the online articles I found about the show? Southern Farm Show (talk) 02:06, 29 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Not yet. To keep this independent, let me start on my own and, then, you can add any I miss to the talk page. Rublamb (talk) 02:55, 29 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Southern Farm Show: the article is live at Southern Farm Show Rublamb (talk) 22:24, 29 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Wow. Thank you so much for your work on this. Your research is impressive. The fact you found out that Marty Robbins was at the first Raleigh show is crazy. Here are a few updates if you can make them:
The show draws around 30,000, not 300,000 (noted 3x)
History second paragraph - Memphis misspelled.
In the list of buildings, we also use the Kerr Scott Building and the Dorton Arena (which has a Wikipedia page)
We are no longer located at 810 Baxter. We now work remotely, so use the PO Box address if you want to include: PO Box 36859, Charlotte NC 28236
The NC State Fairgrounds changed their official address a few years back. It is now 4285 Trinity Rd, Raleigh, NC 27607
Again - I am so impressed that you organized all this. I hope you come check out the show in February! Southern Farm Show (talk) 14:35, 30 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the corrections. Well, I do live on an old family farm in Virginia... Rublamb (talk) 20:16, 30 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Mace and Chain

[edit]

Hi Rulamb,

We messaged back and forth in August about Mace and Chain, though it looks like it was deleted. Recently, I added the nonprofit information to the wiki page, similar to what you did with Skull and Bones. We also discussed the tomb location, and I believe we agreed that it was likely 50 Trumbull St, New Haven; however, it could not be verified, so we couldn't add it. I just looked up Benedict Arnold's house which was mentioned in the Wiki and saw it looked very similar to 50 Trumball St, which was really cool to see. Though I still agree that it can't be verified, I thought it was worth it to mention it. Humowrung (talk) 22:28, 2 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like there needs to be a disambiguation page for the phrase "mace and chain". The article exists, but you have to search with caps: Mace and Chain. Rublamb (talk) 22:50, 2 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
