Etimologia

Congriscus deriva del mot llatí conger (congre).[3]

Distribució geogràfica

Es troba a la conca Indo-Pacífica (les illes Maldives,[4] Madagascar,[5][6] Austràlia,[7] Nova Caledònia,[8] les illes Marqueses, Vanuatu,[9] Fiji,[10] Wallis i Futuna[11] i les illes Filipines)[12] i el Pacífic nord-occidental (el Japó[13][14] i el corrent de Kuroshio).[15][16][17]
