Cymothoidae Cymothoida subordeneko isopodo familia bat da. Itsasoan zein ur-gezan aurki daitezke. Cymotohidae familiako izakiak ektoparasitoak dira, gehienetan arrainenak. Ordezkari ezagun bat Cymothoa exigua da, ostalariaren mihira lotu eta hau deuseztatzen duena, azkenean arrainaren mihia bera ordezkatuz^[1]. Ceratothoa oestroides Mediterraneoko arrainen artean suntsiketarik handiena eragiten duen ektoparasitoa da.

Gaur egun 40 genero eta 380 espezie ezagutzen dira^[2]. Gehienak ur epel eta beroetan bizi dira, eta oso gutxi klima hotzetan^[3].
