Il est célèbre pour avoir introduit les méthodes de rééchantillonnage dites méthodes de bootstrap[2],[3],[4],[5]. Ces méthodes ont la particularité d'utiliser la puissance de calcul des ordinateurs pour améliorer l'inférence statistique[6].
