De University for Development Studies (UDS) be public university wey dey Tamale, for Northern Region of Ghana.[1][2][3][4] Edey rank as one of de top four universities for de country insyd. Dem establish am for 1992 by de Government of Ghana, ein purpose be say ego accelerate de development of Ghana ein north, plus de broader nation.[5] De legislative instrument wey found de university be PNDC Law 279, dem gazette am for May 15, 1992 insyd. UDS be de fifth public university wey de Government of Ghana establish.[6][7] De university get two main campuses: Nyankpala den Dungu wey dey Tamale.

De university dey incorporate de Third Trimester Field Practical Programme (TTFPP) go ein curriculum for first den second-year students.[8] Dis program dey give students practical exposure give real-world development challenges wey dey within communities, foster problem-solving skills.[9] UDS students every year dey spend about two months for communities, actively dey engage in hands-on experiences wey dey contribute to sam nuanced understanding of applied knowledge plus de development of innovative solutions.[10] Dis aspect dey set UDS apart within de Ghanaian academic landscape, promote sm distinctive approach give development studies.[11]

Third trimester field practical programme

For de Third Trimester Practical Programme (TTFPP) de whole of de third trimester be devoted to practical field work for de local communities. Students of sam given year group dey identify sam specific region, wey for smaller groups dey live den interact plus de menners wey dey de local communities for each third trimester tym insyd for sam period of three years. De programme start for 1993 insyd. Edey entail de combination of students from all de faculties: Agriculture, Integrated Development Studies; Applied Science den de School of Medicine den Health Sciences.
