Michael Sorkin på Commons

Michael D. Sorkin (født 2. august 1948 i Washington, DC i USA, død 26. mars 2020 i New York City) var en amerikansk arkitekt, forfatter og professor.[7]

Sorkin tok bachelorgraden ved University of Chicago i 1970, og mastergraden i arkitektur ved Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Sorkin tok også mastergraden i engelsk ved Columbia University.[8]

Sorkin var anmeldte arkitektur for The Village Voice i 1980-årene og skrev mange artikler og bøker om samtidsarkitektur, design, byplanlegging og «demokratisk arkitektur».[9][10]

Sorkin var co-president for Institute for Urban Design og visepresident for Urban Design Forum i New York.[11]

I 2013 ble han tildelt utmerkelsen «Design Mind» av Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.[12]

Sorkin døde 26. mars 2020 av covid-19 i New York City, 71 år gammel.[13]
