Mitchell Joseph "Mitch" Landrieu[1] (/ˈlændruː/ LAN-drew;[2] born August 16, 1960) is an American politician. He was the 61st Mayor of New Orleans from 2010 until 2018. Landrieu previously served as the 51st Lieutenant Governor of Louisiana from 2004 to 2010. He is a member of the Democratic Party.
His father was Moon Landrieu, the United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development during the Jimmy Carter administration. His sister is former United States senator Mary Landrieu.
On November 14, 2021, President Joe Biden announced that Landrieu would be Senior Advisor responsible for the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.[3] He assumed office with the signing of the bill into law on November 15, 2021.
