The Optare Sigma was a single decker body of a bus. It had a step-entrance. It was made from 1994 to 1996 by Optare.
The Sigma body was built on the Dennis Lance chassis.[2][3][4]
In 1994, Busways Travel Services ordered one Sigma for use on a Newcastle upon Tyne to Gateshead MetroCentre shuttle service.[source?]
In 1994, Ipswich Buses ordered one Sigma.[5]
in 1994, Gateshead & District ordered fourteen Sigmas for use on services in Bishop Auckland.[6]
In 1995, Trent Buses ordered seventeen Sigmas.[7][page needed][8]
In 1996, Brighton & Hove ordered twenty Sigmas.[9]
Among recent deliveries have been seven Deltas to Reading Buses, eight Vectas to Westlink, Prismas to Grampian and Rhondda, and Sigmas to Trent and the Brighton & Hove subsidiary of the Go Ahead group which is in the process of taking a batch of 20.
