TAESA was a Mexican low-cost carrier. It began on April 27, 1988. [1] It was one of the first low-cost airlines in Mexico. [2] At times, it became Mexico's 3rd largest airline, after Aeroméxico and Mexicana de Aviacion. On November 9, 1999, a TAESA plane crashed. [3] It was flying from Uruapan to Mexico City International Airport. The crash killed 18 people. [4] That crash and other factors led to TAESA declaring bankruptcy in February 2000. [5]
