Cleanup Tag

[edit]

Do we agree or not that the legacy section needs a trim or rewrite? It’s a very famous game, and its legacy section should probably be long in the first place. Should we keep the tag, or remove it? Or Does someone want to rewrite the section? Judgesurreal777 (talk) 17:11, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Alert some of the all-stars as well: @PresN:, @ProtoDrake:, @Tintor2:. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 17:12, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Seems to have the same problems as some other Final Fantasy articles like "He was listed as most popular character in 2010. In 2012, he was listed as the most popular story, etc" using multiple quotes. It's kinda like the issue we had with Rinoa's article. Probably the best solution is writing something like "It has often been listed as one of the best games by Square and gaming in general" in order to provide generalizations over undue weight.Tintor2 (talk) 17:40, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The legacy section looked a little questionable. I decided to do a rewrite. As to the "Retrospective" section, I'd suggest doing some summarising and cutting the quotes, and that should fix the issue. --ProtoDrake (talk) 18:18, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely amazing, it’s fixed just like that. You are really gems of Wikipedians. Judgesurreal777 (talk) 18:40, 23 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Review table

[edit]

I feel that the review table is way too big, especially when only a handful of sources reviewed the other versions of the games. It should be limited to only the SNES version, in my opinion. Cukie Gherkin (talk) 05:11, 31 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I've split it up and added and clarified some reviews. Some reviews did not even exist in the magazines discussed. Those PlayStation reviews are also a bit iffy as they are reviewing compilations that contain more than just this game, so its a bit (maybe more than "a bit") iffy to say they are reviews of this game, or even a port of the game. That said, the section probably should have reviews of the new pixel remaster and other re-releases since. Andrzejbanas (talk) 21:09, 11 August 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Release Date?

[edit]

Says "October 11, 1994". But I got this on my birthday in August of this year. So how is that possible? 185.85.155.35 (talk) 14:31, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

"Street dates" weren't kept to very strictly back then. August seems pretty early, though, seeing as all of the magazine reviews came out in the October/November issues. --PresN 18:55, 19 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, thanks for replying. Saw someone on Reddit, with a photograph of him playing FFIII on SNES, with the player's guide, "in the summer of 1994". Another said, he spent all of spring of 1994 playing it. Though that seems to early for me. I am writing a memoirs of my life, for my kids, and I am autistic, I don't know. I would like to see if there is any way to confirm these dates. Because it seems impossible to have mistaken getting this for my birthday. It was one of the greatest days of my life. I was in my late teens. So my memory is fairly good from back then. It was the only game I got on release. 130.0.28.141 (talk) 12:24, 12 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
My birthday is August 29th. So Probably September!? 130.0.28.141 (talk) 12:42, 12 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Also, I am from NY. We apparently has a different version of FFII, than everyone else! 130.0.28.141 (talk) 12:45, 12 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
According to several websites pulled up by "AI chat", it was released September 30th! I am not sure if I can post links here... 130.0.28.141 (talk) 12:48, 12 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I found a guy on reddit. Photo of his original receipt. He bought FFIII the 4th of October, 1994! That is before any release date! 130.0.28.141 (talk) 18:00, 13 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

[edit]

"In this conflict, three quarreling entities known as the "Warring Triad" used innocent humans as soldiers by transforming them into enslaved magical beings called Espers. The Triad realized their wrongdoings; they freed the espers and sealed their own powers inside three stone statues."

That is nowhere in the game. ~2025-32161-29 (talk) 17:55, 17 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Did you read the inscriptions of the statues in that cave in the mountain to the west of Thamasa? Mr Fink (talk) 19:31, 17 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
