Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Voter identification laws in the United States, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. In particular see Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Capital letters#Titles of people. - @Jc3s5h: My go-to style guide entry for these is MOS:JOBTITLES. It gives the example "Mao met with US president Richard Nixon in 1972." In that example, a title preceding a name is lowercase because the title is preceded my a modifier. —Eyer (he/him) If you reply, add

It isn't obvious that it agrees with the rest of the section. It disagrees with Chicago Manual of Style 18th ed. §8.22 which gives the example "German Chancellor Olaf Scholz" but also says this doesn't apply if there is a comma, for example, "a meeting with the German chancellor, Olaf Scholz".
- Chicago notes the advise was different in previous editions, and is meant to align with common usage and will usually aid clarity. Jc3s5h (talk) 16:49, 14 October 2025 (UTC)
I don't see any discussion agreeing to it.
You should be looking for discussion objecting or challenging. You won't find any of that, either. That was a BOLD edit that went unchallenged, therefore accepted. ―Mandruss ☎ IMO. 16:52, 14 October 2025 (UTC)- @Jc3s5h: Yes, Chicago's guidance has changed between the 17th edition and the 18th edition. Our MOS hasn't been updated to reflect that new guidance, though. Currently, MOS:JOBTITLES stands as-is. —Eyer (he/him) If you reply, add
