Comment: this appears to be an edit war. Protection does not solve this. If prtected it will be at an arbitrary version. 🇵🇸‍🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦‍🇵🇸 13:11, 29 January 2026 (UTC)

Reason: This topic and similar topics are a battleground for biased editors, while serious/unbiased editors have no interest in getting involved.

Recently, one editor edit warred and was eventually blocked for sockpuppetry, and now an unregistered editor made one vandalism edit – semi-protection would at least eliminate potential vandalism. Dalida Editor please ping or message me 13:16, 29 January 2026 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Multiple temporary IDs / IPs (maybe the same person) keep changing the sourced height of the subject 1.7 m (5 ft 7 in) to the unsourced (possible FanPOV) 1.73 m (5 ft 8 in) [3] [4] [5]. -. Fylindfotberserk (talk) 13:19, 29 January 2026 (UTC)

Current requests for reduction in protection level

[edit]
Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level

Before posting a request for unprotection, please discuss it with the protecting administrator first. You can create a request below only if you receive no response from them.

To find out which administrator protected the page, go to the page's edit history and click on the "View logs for this page" link (located underneath the page's title). The protecting administrator is listed in the protection log entry, next to the words "protected", "changed protection level", or "configured pending changes". If there are a large number of log entries on the page, use the drop-down menu near the top of the page and select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" to filter the logs accordingly.

DO NOT request a reduction in protection if...

  • ...you are being prevented from editing the page. A desire to change content is not a valid reason for unprotection. Instead:
    • If you can edit the article's talk page, use the WP:Edit Request Wizard to propose a change on the article's talk page. Include an explanation of the exact content that you want to change, and what the content will be afterward.
    • If the article's talk page is protected, you may propose a change at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Edit.
  • ...your reasoning for reducing protection is that the article has not been vandalized. That simply means the protection is working as intended.
  • ...your reasoning for reducing protection is basically "a long time has passed" without supporting details.
  • ...you haven't contacted the protecting administrator.

You may request a protection reduction below if...

  • ...you want to change the protection level of a template or module from full protection to template protection. You may add the request to this page without having to discuss it with the protecting administrator first.
  • ...you need to remove creation protection from a location where no page exists (redlinked pages) after a draft version of the intended article is prepared beforehand and ready to be published.
  • ...you are proposing a trial reduction in protection for a page that has been protected for several years, provided the proposal is supported by evidence such as talk page activity, page views, page traffic, number of watchers, frequency of edit requests, and prior history of vandalism.
  • ...the protecting administrator is inactive or has not responded to you in several days.

If you cannot locate your request, make sure to check the request archives to see if it's been moved there. Only requests that have been recently answered will still be listed here.

Unprotection: Vandalism was given as the reason for protecting this page in 2021, but that no longer seems obvious looking through the page's edit history. Qwerty123M (talk) 02:29, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

Qwerty123M, did you try to discuss this with Tom Morris, the admin who protected this page? – Muboshgu (talk) 02:41, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
I have not yet sorry. I didn't know that was a requirement before starting this process. Qwerty123M (talk) 02:43, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
It's easy to miss, but it does say it up top on this page. – Muboshgu (talk) 03:06, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

Reason: The protection is no longer necessary because the Browns confirmed him as HC; thus the reason for protection has expired. NFL2029 (talk) 20:03, 28 January 2026 (UTC)

Not unprotected – Socks need not apply. Favonian (talk) 16:18, 29 January 2026 (UTC)

Reason: Protection was imposed several years ago following an AfD discussion. During the time, the page redirected to Keemstar, and was the frequent target of a LTA who repeatedly attempted to write a full-fledged article without demonstrating notability. Following the extensive work by IanTEB back in November, the page now exists as its own encyclopedic article, rendering the reason for protection moot and no longer necessary. Requesting here as Ferrer stepped down from adminship following his "semi-retirement". Giovanni Potage (talk) 03:33, 29 January 2026 (UTC)

Requests for autopatrolled

Autopatrolled

[edit]

Been editing for a little over a year as an IP user on and off. Decided to get a bit more committed as at November and looking at creating a bunch of good articles with a focus on biographies mostly. I have created 59 articles as of the time of my request, none have been deleted and I have a solid understanding of WP:BLP, WP:CV and notability guidelines. Getting the right will help reduce workload from WP:NPP. Tuesden (talk) 21:29, 21 January 2026 (UTC)

I have been editing for several years now, have close to 89,000 edits, and have new page patrol which I regularly patrol new pages with. I also am a regular in AfD discussions, but I also make new pages, though less frequently than my other activities. I think my new articles pass the requirements of GNG and other guidelines in order to pass the patrol/review process. I've made at least 27 articles in the mainspace, and thousands of others which do not count for this (redirects or disambiguation). Ping me if there are any other questions. Iljhgtn (they/them · talk) 01:33, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

(Non-administrator comment) @Iljhgtn's most recent articles are for publications, such as books. Checks of those articles didn't raise any red flags. A minor note about AG1 (company), is that WP:FORBESCON is not considered reliable. Articles on companies, as I'm sure @Iljhgtn will know as a fellow reviewer, are notoriously challenging to write in a manner that doesn't come across as WP:PROMO. I didn't come across this in the AG1 article, which is reassuring. I will remain neutral, but I think @Iljhgtn can be trusted with AP. Thank you for your contributions! 11WB (talk) 02:01, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

Thank you @11WB. Iljhgtn (they/them · talk) 02:03, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
I'm seeing some WP:V and WP:OR issues. Several paragraphs in Swedenburg v. Kelly lack citations. Professional speech has a lot of direct citations to individual court cases rather than secondary sources that describe the law. Additionally, whole sections of the article lack citations.
The Capitalist Manifesto (Norberg book) has a lot of long quotations. Aella (writer) also has an overly long quotation. voorts (talk/contributions) 02:31, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
Some of your points, such as Aella (writer), are articles which are multiple years old, long since reviewed, and have received hundreds of edits after the fact. Are you referring to the present state of the articles? Am I to be responsible for all edits that follow on any that I created? Iljhgtn (they/them · talk) 03:02, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
Ok forget about the article on Aella. The long quotes from The Capitalist Manifesto has been there since the start: Special:Permalink/1187712008. As for the first two articles, you're the only major contributor. voorts (talk/contributions) 03:30, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
Long quotes are more of a stylistic choice. One that I have since moved away from after receiving some feedback from others. See more recent book articles such as Mazel Tov (book) or Israel: A Simple Guide to the Most Misunderstood Country on Earth, both have quotes, but much shorter snippets. I'm fine with going back and removing older, longer quotes for the record. I just haven't edited those in years in some cases. Iljhgtn (they/them · talk) 03:42, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

Extended confirmed

[edit]

Dear Wikipedia Community,

I am writing to request extended editing rights in order to create the English-language version of the existing German Wikipedia article on Gunter Schubert. At present, no English version of this article exists, despite the relevance of his work to an international academic audience.

I am currently a PhD student under Gunter Schubert and am therefore very familiar with his academic work, publications, and professional background. In addition, I have substantial experience writing and publishing in English, including having completed a Master’s degree in the United Kingdom. I am confident in my ability to produce a neutral, well-sourced article that fully complies with Wikipedia’s content and notability guidelines.

My intention is strictly to translate and adapt the existing German article into English in an encyclopedic and policy-compliant manner, without promotional language or original research.

I would be very grateful if you could consider granting me the necessary extended rights, or let me know if any additional steps or information are required. I am aware of the usual requirements to receive the extended status but I am not quite willing to do 500 edits before going for my original goal.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Kind regards, Lukas Eggert Karansch (talk) 13:41, 26 January 2026 (UTC)

(Non-administrator comment) @Karansch I assume you want to translate it with WP:CX? You can translate it into your userspace (on a user subpage, like User:Karansch/Gunter Schubert). You don't need extended confirmed for that - you only need it if you want to translate it directly into mainspace. HurricaneZetaC 15:21, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
Looks like you already did this at Draft:Gunter Schubert. HurricaneZetaC 15:22, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
Uhh, I didn't thats how that worked. Thank you! I assume I'll create the draft someone will double-check it then? Karansch (talk) 09:16, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
Not done @Karansch: You can feel free to submit your draft, but having looked at it, I can tell you that it won't be approved in its current state. You have a conflict of interest that you must properly declare. Additionally, if Professor Schubert asked you to write this article, I urge both you and him to read WP:BOSS. voorts (talk/contributions) 18:37, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
Oh, that's a good system. Ill declare the COI, that makes sense to me. And no, he didn't urge me. Noticed the English version missing in talks with international guests that were complaining that wiki didn't have his information on display in English. Thank you for the input! Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia and your interest in this permission. Unfortunately, your recent article creation history includes multiple WP:A7 speedy deletions in the last few months, which suggests that you are not yet sufficiently familiar with relevant policies and guidelines to help with new page review.  Not done for now. signed, Rosguill talk 15:10, 28 January 2026 (UTC)

Want to help out with the backlog on women's biographies. Mcwamcwa (talk) 07:56, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia and your interest in this permission. Unfortunately, I'm not seeing a sufficient track record of experience at AfD that would demonstrate mastery of the relevant policies and guidelines, and I'm also seeing that you had an AfC submission declined about a month ago. I would suggest participating more at AfD before reapplying.  Not done for now. signed, Rosguill talk 15:15, 28 January 2026 (UTC)

I'd like to request new page reviewer (patroller?) permissions, I meet the guidelines and have been spending a lot of time working on evaluating AfC submissions recently. In this and in my work as a counter-vandal patroller I regularly interact with all manner of new editors and I like to think I'm fair and friendly to all. Let me know if there's any additional info you need or questions I can answer. Thanks in advance! Smallangryplanet (talk) 16:26, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

I'm applying for NPR rights as I'd like to help out with the backlog and generally enjoy working in spaces relating to new articles. I have over 1,000+ AfC reviews, nearly 10,500 edits (at the time of making this request) and 23 articles created from scratch, all of which are backed up with numerous reliable sources. I also have a lot of experience in helping promote articles to Good Article status. While I do admit my participation in AfDs has become scarce lately, which is something I'd like to improve, I do have some experience in speedy deletion and the occasional PROD. Thank you for your consideration, cheers. Rambley[who?] 14:40, 28 January 2026 (UTC)

Reason for requesting pending changes reviewer rights Aakashnavindu (talk) 09:43, 28 January 2026 (UTC)

Good day, I would like to request pending changes reviewer rights as I regularly clear vandalism and warn users appropriately, and ensure edits meet Wikipedia's sourcing standards. I have been using Ultraviolet/RedWarn to do so, and would like Pending changes reviewer rights to help review edits on vandalism-prone pages. Thank you for your time and consideration. Requests for rollback

Rollback

[edit]

I would like to be a rollbacker for a few reasons:

  1. I am a recent changes patroller and have been patrolling for a few months now,
  2. I have made more than 700 edits in mainspace and more than 1700 edits in total,
  3. Since I am already a pending changes reviewer, I am also used to reverting vandalism in some areas where it isn't visible to everyone yet, so I think I am trained for the job,
  4. This would allow me to use tools like AntiVandal to revert vandalism easier and faster, for the benefit of Wikipedia as a whole.

Thank you (in advance) and Kind regards, Theeverywhereperson talk here 06:24, 18 January 2026 (UTC)

For any passing admins, see here. But you may ignore the other comment and look at my request with a different set of eyes and see what I have already done on Wikipedia, but just because I have been declined before, doesn't mean an automated comment should mean i should be declined again. @Theeverywhereperson OK, you made a mistake a little while ago. We all make mistakes. Can you tell me, specifically and in your own words, what your mistake was and how you'll avoid it in the future? This is important because rollback will allow you to do things much quicker, which is a problem if you use it incorrectly. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 19:38, 20 January 2026 (UTC)
HJ Mitchell, What happened was I came across a TA removing an astonishing amount of information from all sorts of routes without giving an edit summary, so I thought it counted as unexplained content removal. I then used RedWarn to revert all of their edits for that reason, then it turned out that I had accidentally readded all sorts of info that was unsourced without reviewing the edits. My goal is to review edits before reverting them, as in this case the removal was so fast that I couldn't review them all in case they made more potentially bad edits. Theeverywhereperson talk here 05:37, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
(Non-administrator comment) This user recently WAY overstepped by relisting a TFD they were actively involved in despite not having any TFD experience, in direct violation of multiple WP:NAC rules. Strongly advise against granting additional permissions at this time. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 04:56, 22 January 2026 (UTC)
I had done this because I noticed a discussion that had gone on past the point of relisting, which can be around 7 days, and there was no real consensus. I haven't read that before, and didn't know about its existence. My involvement was just a simple reply with no further engagement, and then relisting it by the ratipnale I have given above. I can't see why this affects me getting rollback permissions (Vandalism reversion is a vastly different field to deletion discussions, maybe I would have withdrawn if this was for Template editor) and this was just a lack of judgement. I actually tried to use XFDcloser (the tool I relisted it with) and tried to abort it, but by then it was too late. Courtesy ping to Zackmann08 to read the above and see why I did that, and hope you understand now.
Kind regards, Theeverywhereperson talk here 12:05, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
The fact remains you violated multiple policies in what you did. Ignorance of the rules is no excuse for violating them. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 14:54, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
Zackmann08, I promise, I won't do it again. Also see my most recent comment for more information. We can leave this at a simple 'Don't do it again' and I'll probably be back here in a month or so. Also sorry for the double ping. Theeverywhereperson talk here 15:51, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
I'll leave this to an admin (which again, I am not) to decide. I have voiced my concern. Zackmann (Talk to me/What I been doing) 15:52, 23 January 2026 (UTC)

Done for a trial until the end of February. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:05, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
I've been RC patrolling for far beyond a month, have over 300 edits, and access to rollback (and the tools it allows usage of) would be quite helpful in my patrol. MetalBreaksAndBends (talk) 03:37, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
Requests for template editor

Template editor

[edit]

Hi! I'm requesting an extension to my currently-granted template editor rights, as I'm about a week out from my trial expiring. My original request was made here and granted at Special:PermaLink/1323646684#User:MikeVitale as a trial until the end of January. During this time, I've had User:AnomieBOT/TPERTable open as a tab, and used it to find and fulfill multiple template edit requests from other editors. Pinging @User:Sohom_Datta who granted my initial trial. MikeVitale 00:44, 25 January 2026 (UTC)

Special:Diff/1333056492 is the only TPER responded to since granting (and the only template-protected template full stop), and only 20 total edits (all but five to this template). Primefac (talk) 14:18, 25 January 2026 (UTC)
Sorry, that's not correct.
I don't have the time right this minute to comb through the last 2+ months of my edit history, but I have made far more TPER edits than simply 1. I'm not here to claim that I've made hundreds, but stating that I have only responded to one template edit request is simply factually incorrect. --MikeVitale 15:50, 25 January 2026 (UTC)
Seems like I made the time.
Most of my TPER edit responses have been to the module namespace, not the template namespace, it turns out. --MikeVitale 15:55, 25 January 2026 (UTC)
Apologies, I was not thinking about the module space and the links above only include Template-space edits. I do note a dozen edits to Module:College_color/data, plus one other edit. Primefac (talk) 16:14, 25 January 2026 (UTC)

Requesting an extension of my Template Editor rights, which were granted in November 2025. My rights currently expire on February 2. While I haven't been doing an enormous amount of requests, I am handling the requests that are within my wheelhouse. I do monitor WP:TPER regularly for requests that I am able to handle. phuzion (talk) 20:24, 26 January 2026 (UTC)

Requests for temporary account IP viewer

Temporary account IP viewer

I have quite a few articles on my Watchlist that are targets of persistent vandalism and SPAs. It would be useful for my anti-vandalism efforts to see if the editors are socks/sockmasters and/or resolving to a specific area, etc. Thanks, Shearonink (talk) 18:33, 26 January 2026 (UTC)

Done Sohom (talk) 19:30, 26 January 2026 (UTC)

I’m requesting this permission to support my anti-vandalism and patrolling effort. Several pages on my watchlist and recent changes page face persistent vandalism and sock puppet activity, and having IP address access would help me assess potential socking when needed. I agree to use this access in accordance with Wikimedia Foundation policy and understand the responsibilities of the privilege. Thank you. Luka Maglc (talk) 11:14, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

I have come across many TAs vandalizing the same subject area, so TAIV would be immensely helpful in my anti-vandalism work by determining the level of warnings I put out, how much rein I should give before AIV, and other behavorial interactions. HKLionel TALK 13:20, 28 January 2026 (UTC)
