Aotearoa

WP:NCNZ is a guideline for titling articles. You even wikilinked Aotearoa, which instead of talking about the country it is referencing it discusses a word. I hope this message finds you well. I would like to respectfully bring to your attention that the information you previously shared regarding the institution from which Dr. Hassan Ayariga obtained his PhD appears to be outdated and inaccurate. As of today, degrees from Atlantic International University (AIU) are recognized in several African countries, particularly in Central and West Africa.

Labeling AIU as a "degree mill" is, therefore, a mischaracterization that could be considered defamatory and unsubstantiated. It is important that such claims be based on current and verifiable data.

Hello Nil NZ. Regarding the recent revert you made to Idiotville, Oregon: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template index/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Twinkle contains a good utility for adding warnings after a rollback through its system. Once the talk page for the user opens, go to the TW menu at the top right of the main section, select Warn, and then pick a warning template. Word counts

Please stop adding word counts to plot summaries, they are only useful if everyone who edits the plot summary keeps them up-to-date and that is not the case. - adamstom97 (talk) 09:43, 28 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Adamstom.97, most people (albeit, not everyone) were updating the word count accurately, even if previous editors hadn't.

The word count I added was accurate to your last edit, so I don't understand why you reverted it, and leaving edit summaries like this doesn't help either. You previously deleted it without explanation (mistakenly, I'd assumed), so I'm sorry for re-adding it without knowing what the issue is.

Would it not be worth noting that the current plot summary is 690 words, so any extra would likely push it over the limit?

Right now the article is popular and people are keeping it up-to-date, but it doesn't take long for that to fall off. In my experience, these hidden notes get out of date really quickly and could lead to more confusion. For example, say someone in a few months cuts down the summary by 40 or 50 words and doesn't update the note. Someone coming along might think that there isn't much room to expand it, when that is not the case. That is why I think it is better to just recommend that every editor checks the current word count themselves, rather than assuming that the note is correct. - adamstom97 (talk) 10:42, 28 July 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Ngā mihi for explaining, and I do agree that it could be an issue. Ideally, editors should be checking the word counts of their edits, but practically we know that that doesn't always happen, so having a word count is a simple pragmatic solution to that.

I'm going to reinstate it on the basis that it's useful for other editors (this is a collaborative effort, after all), and that it is being kept up to date. When the updates go stale/fall off, I have absolutely no problem with it being removed, but for now there are a lot of changes happening (the movie is only a week old, so understandable), and there are more than enough page watchlisters keeping the figure updated. At the moment it's not a problem, and is of more use than it is an issue.

If it was in mainspace I'd be more inclined to agree, but people can mostly do what they want in their sandboxes (within obvious reason) and I find it best to be lenient there. The link is pretty much just a self hosted "look at my cool micronation!" page so I don't think this is a deliberate attemptto post a hoax on Wikipedia and more a new user just not quite getting what we're here for. Recent Page Engagement

Dear Nil, we have recently engaged together on a discussion over the page for Moshe Reuven. After the deletion discussion which I have withdrawn (and fully agree with the general community consensus), the new editor who defended the page at the time, has substantially re-written its content, making strict emphasis on the Grammys and highlighting single release information in a covertly-promotional style.

Given the "edit war" and major COI history of the page, I believe this is not a coincidence. The page content was completely fine and encyclopedic before; now it reads like a artist page summary on Spotify. I do not want to appear prejudice, so I am asking for your second opinion.

P.S. Call me paranoid; if you listen to this podcast, the tone and writing style of the contributor Systems292 is vastly similar to the presenter. Same pauses, same logical brakes in a middle of the sentence, same tone. I will not press these charges as they are too much of a stretch, but in the back of my mind I am convinced this IS him, just using a different computer and IP to edit a page about himself. Hi @Liz: I ummed and ahhed whether G10 would correctly apply, but ended up erring on the side of caution by tagging it anyway for an admin to review, as I felt it would fit the description from Wikipedia:Attack page, as biographical material that is entirely negative in tone and [...] poorly sourced.

In this case, it appears to have been drafted to disparage Rivers, who is not notable outside of WP:BLP1E, with descriptions that violate WP:BLPCRIME. The sources are largely unreliable, being from the likes of WP:NYPOST, WP:DAILYMAIL, WP:FOXNEWS, WP:NATIONALREVIEW or partisan sources like Right to Life. Nil🥝 05:50, 30 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Guide to temporary accounts

Starting 4 November, logged-out editors will no longer have their IP address publicly displayed. Instead, they will have a temporary account (TA) associated with their edits. Users with some extended rights like administrators and CheckUsers, as well as users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will still be able to reveal temporary users' IP addresses and all contributions made by temporary accounts from a specific IP address or range.

When a logged-out user completes an edit or a logged action for the first time, a cookie will be set in this user's browser and a temporary account tied with this cookie will be automatically created for them. This account's name will follow the pattern: ~2025-12345-67 (a tilde, year of creation, a number split into units of 5).
All subsequent actions by the temporary account user will be attributed to this username. The cookie will expire 90 days after its creation. As long as it exists, all edits made from this device will be attributed to this temporary account. It will be the same account even if the IP address changes, unless the user clears their cookies or uses a different device or web browser.
A record of the IP address used at the time of each edit will be stored for 90 days after the edit. Users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will be able to see the underlying IP addresses.
As a measure against vandalism, there are two limitations on the creation of temporary accounts:
- There has to be a minimum of 10 minutes between subsequent temporary account creations from the same IP (or /64 range in case of IPv6).
- There can be a maximum of 6 temporary accounts created from an IP (or /64 range) within a period of 24 hours.

Temporary account IP viewer user right

How to enable IP Reveal

Administrators may grant the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right to non-administrators who meet the criteria for granting. Importantly, an editor must make an explicit request for the permission (e.g. at WP:PERM/TAIV)—administrators are not permitted to assign the right without a request.
Administrators will automatically be able to see temporary account IP information once they have accepted the Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy via Special:Preferences or via the onboarding dialog which comes up after temporary accounts are deployed.

Impact for administrators

It will be possible to block many abusers by just blocking their temporary accounts. A blocked person won't be able to create new temporary accounts quickly if the admin selects the autoblock option.
It will still be possible to block an IP address or IP range.
Temporary accounts will not be retroactively applied to contributions made before the deployment. On Special:Contributions, you will be able to see existing IP user contributions, but not new contributions made by temporary accounts on that IP address. Instead, you should use Special:IPContributions for this (see a video about IPContributions in a gallery below).

Rules about IP information disclosure

Publicizing an IP address gained through TAIV access is generally not allowed (e.g. ~2025-12345-67 previously edited as 192.0.2.1 or ~2025-12345-67's IP address is 192.0.2.1).
Publicly linking a TA to another TA is allowed if "reasonably believed to be necessary". (e.g. ~2025-12345-67 and ~2025-12345-68 are likely the same person, so I am counting their reverts together toward 3RR, but not Hey ~2025-12345-68, you did some good editing as ~2025-12345-67)

Useful tools for patrollers

It is possible to view if a user has opted-in to view temporary account IPs via the User Info card, available in Preferences → Appearance → Advanced options → Enable the user info card
- This feature also makes it possible for anyone to see the approximate count of temporary accounts active on the same IP address range.
Special:IPContributions allows viewing all edits and temporary accounts connected to a specific IP address or IP range.
Similarly, Special:GlobalContributions supports global search for a given temporary account's activity.
The auto-reveal feature (see video below) allows users with the right permissions to automatically reveal all IP addresses for a limited time window.

Hi @45dogs, I appreciate the cautious approach, but I disagree that this could help someone find the temp's IP, as I intentionally:

didn't name or hint at the pages that the IP range has edited (other than to say another editor hadn't edited them), and;
gave no other hints (such as geolocation or ISP) of the IP range (other than say it's made two other edits).

Whilst (in hindsight) I could have perhaps been a bit more vague (e.g. "your IP has had no interactions with Mandruss previously, and shows almost no recent activity of logged-out edits"), I think it still comfortably clears WP:TAIVDISCLOSE in this case. Nil🥝 22:42, 4 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This is an entirely bad faith assumption. The actual (boring) answer is I never looked at her discography page (until after your suggestion above); I checked the charting websites directly, but because I can't read Korean, and https://circlechart.kr doesn't have a general search function (afaict), I didn't see that those songs had charted. That was a silly mistake on my part, but it was 100% unintentional and not a deliberate decision to omit information – as I mentioned above, the good faith thing is to correct an editor, while the bad faith thing is to jump straight to accusing them of deliberately lying or spreading misinformation based on a false assumption.

In terms of WP:NSONG – correct me if I'm misinterpreting your comments, but you seem to be saying that a song needs to meet all three criteria? No, a song doesn't have to win awards to have its own article, the problem came with the streaming age because charts were alone good enough for it but if a high profile artist, let's say Taylor Swift, releases an album all her songs will enter multiple charts except the UK because they have proper rules to prevent a huge shakedown on the charts.

Sources alone regarding only the song will do the trick or if an album review has an entire paragraph about the song, plus another source with similar and a standalone source should suffice. Ofc all of this comes to each person individually and I try my best to keep a healthy balance and this area is quite gray

They do link but if were only taking into consideration WP:SIGCOV, every song would have its own article some with only charts.

Yeah, I'm kicking myself for not doing the obvious thing lol. Sometimes I'm used to having to hunt charting info for AFC / AFD reviews that I forget, for most artists, such information has already been turned into some great wikipedia articles. I appreciate you withdrawing the remarks, and I apologise for poor reaction, which didn't help deescalate things either.

But moving onto the important question – I double checked the criteria, and Rosé is definitely eligible for the AMA awards as she was born in NZ, and RMNZ (who run the awards) track her on the "Aotearoa Singles" charts, which track NZ artists only, so they definitely consider her one.

I think the most likely answer is that her management/label didn't put a nomination in; her album came out 6 December, and the nominations closed on 24 December, so they may have been too busy with promotion? I've also seen it suggested online (entirely speculation) that she considers Australia (where she spent her formative years) to be her "home" rather than NZ, so it just may not have been something she considered?

This would be my first involvement in the GA process, having neither reviewed or nommed previously. That said, I'm a better reader than I am a writer, so I don't think there's an issue with starting as a reviewer, but it would be a learning process for us both.
I'm off across "the Ditch" for ~ten days in just over a week, and wouldn't want to hold the process up because of that.

In case it helps I've listed a couple of areas where I think the article could be improved (this is self-criticism as I contributed most of the text to these sections!). (1) I think the opening of the career section could be clearer on how old Bella was when e.g. they got their first job in GoT, when they landed their first film, and so on, to provide some context. (2) the intro and career section doesn't include their Critics Choice TV Awards despite it being one of the major associations alongside the Emmys, Golden Globes etc. I think that's an oversight by me. Finally, it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on whether the red text / dead link to Ella Schrey-Yeates is worth keeping (Rhain suggested yes, but Ella has virtually no independent relaible sources about her so it could be years before their wiki page is produced and approved). Of course, feel free to ignore any/all of these suggestions. But I thought it would be helpful at the start of the review to know what I think are weak spots / areas that I was already planning to improve. Thanks!
