Newspaper of record

A newspaper of record is a national newspaper that is trustworthy. The newspapers are usually very popular.^[1][2]

Sometimes, it refers to a newspaper that a government uses to publish notices to the public.^[3]

Many newspapers of record are very old, like Neue Zürcher Zeitung, The Times, The Guardian, Le Figaro, and The Sydney Morning Herald.^[4] Other newspapers are very reputable in their quality and accuracy, like The Wall Street Journal and The Telegraph or The Washington Post.^[5]
