Introduction to contentious topics

Fashion seasons

I noticed you went and changed every single instance of Spring/Summer or Fall/Winter in the leads of McQueen articles to use dashes instead of slashes. This is incorrect styling (the vast majority of fashion publications style the seasons with a slash) and inconsistent with the usage in the rest of each article. I undid your edit here as it was not an improvement to the article. British English does not use commas the same way as some other dialects, nor does it use false titles. Death of James Cook

You added a comma after the date in the following sentence in the lead: "On 14 February 1779 British explorer Captain James Cook was killed as he attempted to kidnap Kalaniʻōpuʻu, the ruling chief (aliʻi nui)." I reverted this because in British English a comma is not usual after a short introductory phrase of time or place. See New Hart's Rules p 69 and other major style guides written in the past 30 years. US English uses commas after dates and most introductory phrases, but this article is written in British English. See also the article on James Cook. Happy to discuss on the article talk page but you will need a very broad consensus to change the English variation. Because in this instance a pair of commas enclose the parenthetical phrase "during his third Pacific voyage". The sentence makes perfect sense without the parenthetical phrase but the enclosed phrase gives us a little more information. The phrase could also be marked off by a pair of en-dashes, but commas imply a closer relationship between the parenthetical phrase and the rest of the sentence. I actually came here after seeing the same edit summary. The revert doesn't even change {{Use American English}}, so it doesn't affect the article.
