Nepenthes distillatoria (จากภาษาละติน: destillo = กลั่น, -oria = ที่ตอนปลาย; บางสิ่งจากของเหลวที่กลั่นตัว นั่นก็คือ หม้อ) เป็นหม้อข้าวหม้อแกงลิงถิ่นเดียวจากศรีลังกา เป็นหม้อข้าวหม้อแกงลิงชนิดที่สองที่ถูกแจงลักษณะและเป็นชนิดแรกที่ถูกจัดอยู่ภายใต้อนุกรมวิธานของลินเนียส มันเป็นชนิดต้นแบบของสกุล

Botanical history

N. distillatoria เป็นหม้อข้าวหม้อแกงลิงชนิดที่สองที่ถูกพรรณาลักษณะต่อจาก N. madagascariensis ในปี ค.ศ. 1677 บาร์โทลินูซ์ (Bartholinus) ได้กล่าวถึงมันภายใต้ชื่อ "สมุนไพรอันน่าพิศวง" (Miranda herba) ^[1] 3 ปีต่อมา พ่อค้าชาวดัตช์ที่ชื่อเจคอบ เบรนี (Jacob Breyne) อ้างว่าพืชชนิดนี้เป็น Bandura zingalensium ซึ่งเป็นชื่อเรียกในท้องถิ่น^[2] ในภายหลัง Bandura ได้กลายเป็นชื่อที่ใช้เรียกหม้อข้าวหม้อแกงลิงทั่วไปจนกระทั่งลินเนียสได้ตั้งชื่อ นีเพนเธส ขึ้นในปี ค.ศ. 1737^[3]

N. distillatoria ถูกจัดจำแนกอีกครั้งในปี ค.ศ. 1683 โดยแพทย์ชาวสวีเดน ที่ชื่อเอช.เอ็น. กริม (H. N. Grimm) ^[4] กริมได้เรียกมันว่า Planta mirabilis distillatoria หรือ "พืชกลั่นน้ำอันน่าอัศจรรย์" และเป็นครั้งแรกที่มีภาพประกอบอย่างละเอียดของพืชชนิดนี้^[3] 3 ปีต่อมา ในปี ค.ศ. 1686 นักธรรมชาติวิทยาชาวอังกฤษที่ชื่อจอน เรย์ (John Ray) อ้างคำพูดของกริมมากล่าวดังนี้:^[5]

ลินเนียสได้ใช้คำระบุชนิดดั้งเดิมของกริมในการตั้งชื่อ N. distillatoria ในปี ค.ศ. 1753

นิเวศวิทยา

N. distillatoria เป็นพืชถิ่นเดียวของศรีลังกาและเป็นหม้อข้าวหม้อแกงลิงเพียงชนิดเดียวจากประเทศนี้ พบในพื้นที่เปียกชื้นตามป่าละเมาะ, ริมถนน, พื้นที่เปิดโล่ง และในป่า N. distillatoria ขึ้นที่ความสูง 0 ถึง 700 ม.จากระดับน้ำทะเล^[6]
