They haven't edited in the last 6 months. PhilKnight (talk) 20:31, 1 January 2026 (UTC)
I know, but the purpose of restrictions is preventive, not punitive. The account was created spammed in May 2022, came back to spam again in July 2023, took a break and came back only to spam again in July 2025. So I feel this is a good indication of where it's going. It's a spam only account from one of the spam farms. They've not made a single non-spam edit. Graywalls (talk) 20:38, 1 January 2026 (UTC)
No vandalism since final warning. Re-report if this user resumes vandalising. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 20:42, 1 January 2026 (UTC)
I handled this report before seeing Daniel's decline. I have partially blocked them from moving pages. I have moved a couple of their articles to draft space. PhilKnight (talk) 20:50, 1 January 2026 (UTC)
@PhilKnight and AlphaCore: It might still be worth reporting this to ANI, but it's probably best to wait and see if they continue. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 21:05, 1 January 2026 (UTC)

Requests for page protection

Current requests for increase in protection level

[edit]
Request addition of protection to a page, or increasing the current protection level
Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Add semi-protection please (blocks edits from IPs/new accounts). At least 5 IP vandalism edits in the recent past. Thanks. TudorTulok (talk) 16:29, 1 January 2026 (UTC)

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Yaris678 (talk) 22:41, 1 January 2026 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – TAs repeatedly adding "framing device" text to plot summary despite no consensus at Talk page favoring inclusion. DonIago (talk) 16:36, 1 January 2026 (UTC)

Declined – Content dispute. Please use the article's talk page or other forms of dispute resolution. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 23:36, 1 January 2026 (UTC)

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Indefinite protection seems necessary as there seems to be a user utilizing different accounts top persistently insert content without proper sources. See also the talk page, where there have been requests for the content to be added back without any rationale or sources. BlockArranger (talk) 20:48, 1 January 2026 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of 2 years, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Ymblanter (talk) 23:04, 1 January 2026 (UTC)
  • Automated comment: One or more pages in this request appear to already be protected. Please confirm.—cyberbot ITalk to my owner:Online 23:12, 1 January 2026 (UTC)

Reason: This page requires protection due to repeated and ongoing vandalism, as well as the systematic addition of inaccurate and misleading information specifically concerning Kurdish content. Despite prior reversions, disruptive edits continue to compromise the integrity and reliability of the article, posing a risk to readers seeking accurate information. Temporary or semi-protection is necessary to prevent further damage while allowing established, experienced editors to maintain and verify content ~2026-19782 (talk) 22:11, 1 January 2026 (UTC)

Reason: This page requires protection due to repeated vandalism and the addition of misleading or unverified information related to the Asayish and the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria. The topic is highly sensitive and politically charged, leading to frequent disputes, biased edits, and attempts to insert propaganda or inaccurate claims. Protection is necessary to maintain the accuracy, neutrality, and reliability of the article while allowing experienced editors to oversee content. ~2026-19782 (talk) 22:12, 1 January 2026 (UTC)

Reason: Repeated vandalism and insertion of misleading/unverified content on a politically sensitive topic (CTG Kurdistan). Persistent disruption threatens article integrity; protection needed to allow stable editing by experienced contributors. ~2026-19782 (talk) 22:13, 1 January 2026 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – LTA disruption returns. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 22:34, 1 January 2026 (UTC)

Extended confirmed protected for a period of 1 year, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Logged as enforcement for WP:CT/BLP. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 23:35, 1 January 2026 (UTC)

Reason: A lot of vandalism hasn’t been reverted ~2026-20381 (talk) 22:39, 1 January 2026 (UTC)

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. CoconutOctopus talk 22:55, 1 January 2026 (UTC)

Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Persistent sockpuppetry by Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Alijanhz. HistoryofIran (talk) 23:45, 1 January 2026 (UTC)

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Almost every recent revision has been reverted. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 00:02, 2 January 2026 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Yue🌙 (talk) 01:19, 2 January 2026 (UTC)

Reason: Vandalism ~2026-22039 (talk) 00:13, 2 January 2026 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of 1 month, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Yue🌙 (talk) 01:21, 2 January 2026 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Frequent vandalism from 8+ seemingly unrelated TAs over the past day. ScalarFactor (talk) 00:43, 2 January 2026 (UTC)

Indefinite extended-confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – WP:GS/KURD. Kajmer05 (talk) 01:01, 2 January 2026 (UTC)

Current requests for reduction in protection level

[edit]
Request removal of protection from a page, or reducing the current protection level

Before posting a request for unprotection, please discuss it with the protecting administrator first. You can create a request below only if you receive no response from them.

To find out which administrator protected the page, go to the page's edit history and click on the "View logs for this page" link (located underneath the page's title). The protecting administrator is listed in the protection log entry, next to the words "protected", "changed protection level", or "configured pending changes". If there are a large number of log entries on the page, use the drop-down menu near the top of the page and select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" to filter the logs accordingly.

DO NOT request a reduction in protection if...

  • ...you are being prevented from editing the page. A desire to change content is not a valid reason for unprotection. Instead:
    • If you can edit the article's talk page, use the WP:Edit Request Wizard to propose a change on the article's talk page. Include an explanation of the exact content that you want to change, and what the content will be afterward.
    • If the article's talk page is protected, you may propose a change at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Edit.
  • ...your reasoning for reducing protection is that the article has not been vandalized. That simply means the protection is working as intended.
  • ...your reasoning for reducing protection is basically "a long time has passed" without supporting details.
  • ...you haven't contacted the protecting administrator.

You may request a protection reduction below if...

  • ...you want to change the protection level of a template or module from full protection to template protection. You may add the request to this page without having to discuss it with the protecting administrator first.
  • ...you need to remove creation protection from a location where no page exists (redlinked pages) after a draft version of the intended article is prepared beforehand and ready to be published.
  • ...you are proposing a trial reduction in protection for a page that has been protected for several years, provided the proposal is supported by evidence such as talk page activity, page views, page traffic, number of watchers, frequency of edit requests, and prior history of vandalism.
  • ...the protecting administrator is inactive or has not responded to you in several days.

If you cannot locate your request, make sure to check the request archives to see if it's been moved there. Only requests that have been recently answered will still be listed here.

Unprotection: No need for full protection, I wanna add {{R from unnecessary disambiguation}}. Thepharoah17 (talk) 01:25, 2 January 2026 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page

[edit]
Request a specific edit be made to a protected page
Please add an edit request to the talk page of the protected page before adding an edit request here

Requests for specific edits should be made on the talk page of the protected article. You can create an edit request below only if the talk page is also protected, preventing you from adding a request there.

Otherwise, this is the correct place to use in order to add an edit request if you are unable to add one to the article's talk page. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to properly add a request.

Change the reported number of killed in the Gaza Strip from 70,668 to 70,654. The source cited for the existing 70,668 number actually says 70,654. Change the reported number of wounded in the Gaza Strip from 171,152+ to 171,095. The source cited for the existing 171,152+ number actually says 171,095. XXRobloxGod52961XX (talk) 21:38, 31 December 2025 (UTC)

You stated that the Gaza genocide was "The Gaza genocide is the ongoing, intentional, and systematic destruction of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip carried out by Israel during the Gaza war." This shows bias towards the Palestinians and does not have a neutral point of view. This should be changed so the article states it as a debated issue that was not fully resolved.
