പശ്ചിമഘട്ടത്തിൽ മാത്രം കാണപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു തനതു (endemic) പൂമ്പാറ്റയാണ് തിരുവിതാംകൂർ കരിയിലശലഭം (Tranvancore Evening Brown). ശാസ്ത്രനാമം - Parantirrhoea marshalli.[1][2][3][4][5][6] ഈ ജീനസ്സിൽ കാണപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരേയൊരു ചിത്രശലഭസ്പീഷ്യസ് ആണിത്. പെരിയാർ കടുവ സംരക്ഷണകേന്ദ്രത്തിൽ ഇതിന്റെ സാന്നിധ്യം 1997 കണ്ടെത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഈയിനം ശലഭത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് വിവരങ്ങൾ വളരെക്കുറവേ ലഭ്യമായിട്ടുള്ളു.[7]
